The Goodchild property is approximately 366 claim units covering a very large airborne magnetic anomaly measuring approximately 5km by 8km and represents the Goodchild ultra-mafic intrusion. A geophysical airborne survey flown in the late eighties shows multiple coinciden-tal electro-magnetic anomalies throughout the center and along the margins of the intrusion. Early limited prospecting yielded nickel values has high as 12.6% with 0.3% cobalt and 2 gpt PGE’s.
Benton can also earn a 100% interest in the South Goodchild property which covers the southern portion of the favourable ultramafic intrusion that hosts several significant nickel show-ings, and is tied directly onto the south end of Benton’s Goodchild Lake nickel-copper project. To earn a 100% interest in the South Goodchild property, Benton must pay the vendors $105,000 cash, issue 200,000 shares over 4 years and complete exploration expenditures of $200,000. The South Goodchild Agreement is subject to a 3% Net Smelter Royalty (NSR) of which 2.0% can be purchased for $500,000 per each 0.5%.
Benton has completed a 957 line km airborne VTEM survey, linecutting, geological mapping, prospecting and ground geophysics to help prioritize diamond drill targets. Diamond drilling of priority targets was completed in October of 2008. This first phase of drilling has identified several areas of anomalous Nickel and Copper and a second phase drill program was completed in the spring of 2009. To date drilling has confirmed that the property has consistant anomalous zones of mineralization but additional targets need to be tested to take the property further. Benton is currently looking for a partner to advance this project.
